Android apps, Firebase backends, cloud functions, web portals and the emails and admin tooling around them — designed, shipped and maintained solo, in production, with real users. I build internal platforms for companies in the Argent Industrial Group: the Xpanda Security sales platform is complete and live nationally, and the next build — the same system for American Shutters — is underway. The code ships under NDA, so this site shows the work the way an engineer would: architecture, decisions and results.

Xpanda Security Sales App

Xpanda manufactures and distributes physical security products nationally. Quoting, sales and ordering ran on manual processes across dozens of branches — slow, error-prone and impossible to track. I was brought in straight out of my degree as the sole developer to digitise the entire pipeline — and I owned it from first commit to final delivery. The platform is now complete and live in daily use across the national branch network, and its architecture has become the blueprint for the group's next rollout.

What I built

  • Kotlin Android tablet app driving the full quote → order → approval lifecycle across four user roles, with accounting-accurate pricing, structured attachments and role-gated status control.
  • Silent PDF engine generating retail, wholesale and order-summary documents in the background — chained rendering that avoids WebView contention and saves straight to storage.
  • Operations web portals for tracking, dispatch, invoicing, payments and KPIs — role-scoped with Firebase Auth, plus a customer-facing quote viewer with signature capture.
  • Cloud Functions backend routing order emails by role, sending confirmations with conditional retail/wholesale pricing panels, bulk email, and rate-limited PIN recovery.
  • Production ownership — data integrity for quoting, after-hours incident response, stakeholder comms and onboarding for every branch.

American Shutters Sales Platform

With the Xpanda platform delivered, the group's next mandate is American Shutters — a manufacturer of shutters and security barriers within the Argent Industrial Group. The brief: bring the same end-to-end digital quote → order → approval pipeline to a second company — this time built entirely as a web application. No Play Store, no installs: the full platform runs in the browser, adapted to American Shutters' product range, pricing structures and branch workflows.

What I'm building

  • Proven platform pattern, re-applied as a web app — the Firebase backend, Cloud Functions layer and operations portals that ran Xpanda, rebuilt browser-first so the entire quote → order lifecycle runs on the web with nothing to install or update.
  • Product & pricing engine reworked for shutter and barrier configurations — measurements, finishes and options that behave very differently from a fixed catalogue.
  • Role-based workflow across consultants, branch management and head office, with the same accounting-accurate pricing and role-gated status control the group now expects.
  • Silent PDF generation for quotes and order documents, built on the background rendering engine proven in production on Xpanda.
  • Shared architectural playbook — hardening what worked, fixing what didn't, and shaping a reusable foundation for future companies in the group.

About

Sole developer from day one — which is a fast way to learn everything.

I'm 23, born and raised in Durban. I've been drawn to tech and where it's heading for as long as I can remember, and I went straight from a BSc in Application Development at IIE Varsity College into industry as a sole developer — owning a full production system from first commit. There was no senior to hand things to, so I learned to own everything: architecture, code, deploys, data integrity and the 10pm phone call when something breaks.

What I'm good at beyond code is talking to people. Half of building useful software is understanding what someone actually needs versus what they're asking for — and I can hold that conversation with a branch consultant, a director or a mechanic in a workshop.

I stay calm when things break. When a production issue lands after hours I'm at my machine within minutes. If it's critical I fix it there; if the system can keep running I brief the people affected, get them a workable interim, and ship the proper fix in the morning.

Outside of code I'm outdoors as much as I can be — new food, new places, conversations with people who don't share my background. It's part of what draws me to fast-moving tech hubs like the UAE. Long term I want to build with a serious team at scale — and keep shipping systems that entire companies run on, the way I'm doing now across the Argent Industrial Group.
